Position Title:
Product Development Specialist FLSA Status:

VP of Business Development Scope:
Develop new products and processes by leading assigned projects and providing support for process changes and corrective action.
Essential Duties:
Provide leadership by participating in the investigation, planning, and execution of product development projects.
Track and report status of assigned PCR, corrective action, and product development projects.
Communicate with associates and customers as necessary to resolve specific product or project issues.
Assure the creation of a Master Manufacturing Record that meets FDA, SOP and customer requirements.
Develop written specifications for raw materials, packaging, in-process and finished products, to include formula, label, BOM, nutritional and customer data required for products.
Ensure that assigned products/projects are developed in compliance with relevant regulatory requirements and within guidelines established by the customer.
Manage time and resources to ensure accurate and timely completion of projects and critical non-project tasks.
Approve documentation as necessary.
At the direction of the Director of Research & Development, train and supervise Product Development hourly employees.
Oversee multiple internal and external products related to new product development and continuous improvement of existing products.
Develops and adheres to project timelines and budgets, including routine updates to clients and Director of R&D.
Gathers information needed to accurately quote requests for new products and processes.
Directs and coordinates activities related to projects within the department to support timelines.
Ensure adequate time is spent becoming familiar with production processes and relevant equipment.
Responsible to report any and all, major or minor food safety problems to personnel with authority to initiate action.
Promote food safety and quality awareness throughout the organization.
Assist with other projects or duties as assigned.
Requirements &
Qualifications:
Bachelor of Science in food science, biochemistry, a related discipline or equivalent experience preferred.
3 or more years of experience in product development in a GMP regulated environment preferred.
Demonstrated leadership skills and ability to contribute solutions on multiple ongoing projects.
Ability to be creative, proactive and think outside the box.
Willing to accept or create new ideas and take chances improving a product.
Proficient with Microsoft Office.
Possess strong verbal and written communication skills.
Function efficiently in a fast-paced environment, with the ability to meet strict deadlines.
Ability to work independently and handle multiple projects at the same time with limited supervision; excellent planning, time management and decision-making skills.
Strong motivation, level disposition, work ethic, leadership and organizational skills.
Excellent work history, attendance, initiative and drive to succeed.
Maintain excellent communication and relationships with others; be a team player; maintain a positive attitude.
